We are all familiar with the term “self-care,” but what does it really mean? 

There are plenty of posts about people getting their nails done, going to the spa, taking bubble baths...all of which are great! We at The Guiding Elements are definitely advocates for pampering ourselves and adding extra sweetness to our days.

But we also know that truly taking care of ourselves includes practices much deeper than that.

 

Self-care is about taking care of our bodies (the blessed vehicle that carries us through life): cleansing our bodies consistently, eating nourishing and nutrient-dense foods, getting a sufficient amount of sleep, exercising regularly.

Self-care is about taking care of our minds (the powerful tool which filters our experiences): establishing healthy routines, having proper work/life balance, creating boundaries, cultivating proper sensory intake, going to therapy, tending to our emotions.

Self-care is about taking care of our Spirits (the all-pervasive energy which grants us life): connecting with Source through meditation or prayer, making time for creative expression and play, spending time in nature.

 

Ayurveda offers a holistic approach to health by focusing on the mind-body-spirit connection to create wellness as a whole.


Sometimes we can feel overwhelmed when we look at all the shifts we need to make in order to live in alignment with our highest Self. It is important to remember that lasting change occurs with an accumulation of small steps. An Ayurvedic Path Oracle Deck was created to help guide you through this process in a fun and accessible way.
